US President Biden Signs Bill That Could Ban TikTok. The popular short video app TikTok said it will fight the legal battle against US bill that could ban or force it to sale the app in order to stay active in the US. TikTok alongside other social media platforms, that could affect from it, have vowed to fight the measure in court.

TikTok says it will challenge in court an "unconstitutional" law that could result in it being sold or banned in the United States. President Biden has signed a bill which gives the social media platform's Chinese owner, ByteDance, nine months to divest the app or it will be blocked in the US. The law has been introduced because of concerns TikTok might share user data with the Chinese government - claims it has always denied.

TikTok says it will fight in the court.

TikTok took to X (formarly Twitter), and wrote,

"Our Statement on Enactment of the TikTok Ban:" "This unconstitutional law is a TikTok ban, and we will challenge it in court. We believe the facts and the law are clearly on our side, and we will ultimately prevail. The fact is, we have invested billions of dollars to keep U.S. data safe and our platform free from outside influence and manipulation. This ban would devastate seven million businesses and silence 170 million Americans. As we continue to challenge this unconstitutional ban, we will continue investing and innovating to ensure TikTok remains a space where Americans of all walks of life can safely come to share their experiences, find joy, and be inspired."

ByteDance a Chinese company behind the popular social platform TikTok, has up to a year to sell TikTok to a buyer deemed fit by US officials: according to news reports.

"We are confident and we will keep fighting for your rights in the courts," said TikTok boss Shou Zi Chew. "The facts, and the Constitution, are on our side... rest assured, we aren't going anywhere."

In a video posted on the platform, he lambasted the bill and called for people to share their stories of how TikTok had improved their lives. "Make no mistake, this is a ban - a ban on TikTok, and a ban on you, and your voice," he said.
