Turksat 6A Turkish homemade satellite in space.
Story: Turkey has launched its first ever home-grown satellite. ; 28-08-2024;
The satellite's assembly was completed in Ankara, making Turksat 6A a significant milestone as Turkey's first domestically produced satellite.
Turkey has become one of the 10 satellite manufacturers worldwide to have a capability to domestically produce a satellite, all with national resources including the engineers who built the satellite.
Over 80% of Turksat 6A, was manufactured in Turkey. This achievement showcases the significant advancements Turkey has made in the field of modern space engineering.
While the launch took place from a facility in Florida, the majority of the satellite's creation took place in Turkey that shows the Turkey's growing capabilities in space technology.
With a decade of success in self reliance in defence sector with the UAVs like Bayraktar TB2, Bayraktar TB3, recently domestically produced fifth-generation fighter jet Kaan, Turkey has added another big breakthrough towards self reliance and a key player in exports industry worldwide. This positions Turkey as one of the leading nations in aerospace technology.
Turkey has successfully launched its first ever fully self developed communication satellite the Turksat 6A.
• The purpose of the satellite is to give Turkey a footprint of of its own in outer space. Turksat 6A will also serve as the communication satellite for Turkey.
• The civil and military communication will be a part of his services in the outer space.
• The export of these satellites is also on the future plans.
• The mission of Turkey is to become self relient in the wake of bipolar world, and to bolster its defence capabilities, satellites play a cruical role, as Turkish famous Bayraktar UAVs, flies with the help of these satellites.
Turkey's strategic goal is to achieve self-reliance in defence capabilities, particularly in the context of a changing global geopolitical landscape.
Satellites play a crucial role in this endeavour, as demonstrated by the successful operation of the renowned Bayraktar UAVs, which rely on satellite technology for navigation, communication, and surveillance.
And having Turkish own homemade satellites in the space covering worldwide range gives significant abilities to countries defence capabilities. • This also provides security to the national interest of the Turkey. As it is home-grown and not reliant on foreign technology.
The successful liftoff of the Falcon 9 rocket and the deployment of Turksat 6A into orbit mark a significant milestone for Turkey's space program.
Currently Turkey has to rely upon foreign satellites in order to control the aviation traffic, UAVs operations worldwide, as it lacks its own satellite network worldwide. Turkey can only control aviation traffic over its airspace with its current satellites. • One of the aims for the Turkish satellite programme is to have 20 satellites in the orbit in order to control the worldwide aviation traffic. For both military and public services.
The most important aspect of Turksat 6A is its software, developed entirely by Turkish engineers. This software handles various satellite operations, including terminals, mechanical subsystems, flight software, ion engines, communication antennas, and solar panel controls.
