Pros: Ease of Use:
Vercel is a platform for hosting Next.js applications, offering a streamlined experience and features tailored to modern web applications. Its Fast, less
Vercel offers a simple deployment process with seamless integration with GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. Is vercel good option for Content Website, Blogs, and specially for a News Website?
Yes, the short answer to the question, but with string attached, here's what we mean, according to our experience so far it is a good option to use Vercel's Next.js framework to run a News Website or anything like that as long as few conditions are met:
A. Your project does not depend heavily on backend manipulation like plugins, PHP scripts. Vercel excels at deploying static websites and offers built-in support for static site generators like Next.js. If your news website can leverage SSG, you’ll benefit from extremely fast load times and lower server costs. Edge Network: Vercel’s global CDN (Content Delivery Network) ensures that your content is delivered quickly to users no matter where they are located.
Serverless Architecture: Vercel uses a serverless architecture, which means it can automatically scale to handle high traffic without requiring manual intervention. This is particularly useful for news sites that may experience sudden spikes in traffic.
Limited and nearly no maintenance: Vercel automatically handles builds, deployments, and optimizations.
Built for Next.js: Vercel is the creator of Next.js, so it’s deeply integrated with the framework. It supports all Next.js features, including Server-Side Rendering (SSR), Static Site Generation (SSG), and API routes out of the box. Global CDN: Vercel automatically deploys your site to a global edge network, ensuring fast load times worldwide. Automatic Scaling: Vercel handles traffic spikes without any configuration, making it ideal for news websites with varying traffic. Zero Maintenance: As a fully managed platform, Vercel requires no server management, allowing you to focus entirely on your application. Cons: Less Control: While Vercel is easy to use, it offers less control over the underlying infrastructure compared to more traditional hosting options. Cost: Vercel's pricing can increase significantly with higher traffic or advanced usage, especially if you exceed the limits of the free or lower-tier plans. Limited Backend Flexibility: Vercel is optimized for frontend frameworks and might not be the best choice if you need extensive backend customization.
C: If your website uses server-side logic or databases for user authentication, personalized content etc, you may need to use serverless functions or integrate with external services, which could add complexity to your deployment.
Vercel has higher pricing as compared to Hostinger's Shared hosting (Hostinger would be a good choice if your project is new, small size, but better be future ready, as the project grows Hostinger lacks. Quick example its shared hosting plan does not allow access to server, as its shared with multiple users. However its VPS allows you to have your own server but that has great challenges of its own, like maintenance.) Vercel would be expensive in comparison to Shared hosting of Hostinger. It will cost higher especially if you rely heavily on server-side rendering or large-scale serverless functions. If yo'd like to buy Hostinger Hosting plan for your small or medium size project, feel free to use our link to get extra discount of 20% , here Hostinger most popular Business Web Hosting plan with 20% discount, if purchased with this link. on its yearly plan, we are using the same plan and it works great for our project which is in its 2nd tier phase (medium size project).
Vercel is an excellent choice for a modern, fast, and scalable news website, especially if you can leverage static site generation and a headless CMS.
Gatsby Overview: Gatsby is a popular React-based static site generator that focuses on SSG, allowing you to build fast and optimized websites. It uses GraphQL to pull in data from various sources, making it flexible for integrating with headless CMSs.
Nuxt.js Overview: Nuxt.js is a framework for building Vue.js applications, similar to how Next.js is for React. It supports SSR, SSG, and can also generate static websites.
Other platforms include, SvelteKit, Remix, Jekyll, Hugo, Angular Universal, Eleventy (11ty).
