China has established world's first 6G field test network | 6G network?

Story: China launched 6G testing ; 22-07-2024;

Use cases of the 6G technology:

China has made significant strides in 6G technology by establishing the world's first field test network. In February 2024 China became the first country to launch a satellite for 6G network, China Mobile launched the world’s first 6G satellite in February. The low earth orbit (LEO) satellite is the world’s first to employ 6G design architecture. The satellite is expected to boost experimentation with integrated space to ground communication technology according to a report byChinadaily.

China first leaded in the 5G network, and now successful implementation of a 6G field test network, makes the country a leader in next-generation wireless communication as well. China was behind in the 2G, 3G and 4G, network race but became a global leader for 5G earlier.

• 6G would not only help boost the current high speed Internet communication, but would help achieve ubiquitous instant communications, pervasive intelligence and IoT. 6G networks will operate on higher radio frequencies, providing more bandwidth and latency at microsecond speeds.

• potential use cases involves Robotics: 6G would enable seamless communication between robots and humans for improved efficiency and safety, while collaborative communication between machine and humans would boost the manufacturing, logistics, and education levels and quality.

• Health: 6G would help establish global access to e-health, with non-terrestrial networks and AI/ML functionality.

• 6G could provide advancement in streams like energy efficiency, environmental, agriculture, precise location sensing, etc.

• High speed 6G networks would help better the current communication, workflow between humans and machines like AI powered robotics, Autonomous driving, flying machines (UAVs), fast and effective city management (traffic, urban planning etc).

• Virtual and Digital interactivity with extended reality (XR): with the advanced networks like 6G we could possibly achieve Immersive and interactive experiences that stimulate multiple senses including touch, smell, and taste. We could also perfect the lifelike, interactive communication experience via hologram, creating virtual replicas of physical objects for simulation, optimization, and remote control.

High speed internet that would enable large data manipulation within seconds would be another USP (unique selling point) of 6G, according to the current estimates and research the speed of 6G could be terabits per second (Tbps) range.

5G vs 6G?:

Current fastest network in the public domain is 5G which has speed range of Gigabits per second, at peak.

6G on the other hand could possibly break this barrier and would deliver terabits per second range. A 1,000 times faster than 5G.

With the current 5G networks world has benefited a lot, be it AI development, implementation of Self driving cars, drones, robotics, high speed internet connectivity and communication, healthcare and lifestyle betterment. The development and mass adoption of 6G would make the current development 1,000 times faster and great number of new possibilities for the betterment of world could be achieved.

China to bring 6G by 2030:

China aims to start commercializing the technology by 2030. It expects to establish 6G standards by 2025.

I would like to make it clear here, that these are just a few estimates and examples of what 6G could achieve for us, and the full potential of 6G technology is still being explored and researched.
